SBS is about to embark on its 11th year of ministry... 2009-10

Our mission is still very clear... to make room for Christ to make a lasting imprint on the hearts of young people. We continue to do this by providing retreats for churches, partnering with churches to provide youth ministry programming, training, and staff, collaborative youth events, providing mission opportun ities to Guatemala and, through peer ministry opportunities with our Servant Leadership Team. Our volunteers are vital to the success of these ministry opportunities!

Any one who is interested in serving must walk through our Team Training called "The Door."

"The Door" is a process by which you have an opportunity to do three things:

  1. Discover the opportunities to serve within Side By Side, as well as inform us of how and when you are able to serve.
  2. Discover and share more about your life on a personal level with Side By Side.
  3. Equip you, our volunteer team, with important vital information to ensure safety and healthy experiences between our volunteer team members and those whom we serve.

Definition of Team:
Knows no boundaries, age, serving limits.  Includes everyone whether you volunteer for one retreat event a year or five and even if you feel your volunteer role is small.  If you need clarification, please do ask :)

Walk through "The Door"...

Our Four Focus Areas for Volunteers to Participate In

PARTNERSHIPS

Side By Side partners with local churches through placing our youth ministers into the church to raise up a long lasting program which equips both adult and youth volunteers. There are two avenues in which this takes place. The first is placing a SBS youth minister into a church, and the second is coming alongside an existing youth minister. Both avenues create a network that provides both the support and resources needed to have longevity and quality in programming.

RETREATS

The passion of our faith-filled team of college students and adult volunteers brings a relevance to our high-energy themes. Our messages connect today's youth culture to the message of Christ. Through games, dramas, live music and small groups, youth ministers and leaders have the opportunity to connect with their students in a lasting way, without worrying about the programming of a retreat. You can also bring SBS in for an evening or day retreat which is tailored to your specific program needs

MISSIONS

Our missions program offers churches a way to make a considerable difference in the communities we serve and a lasting impact in the lives of those who do the serving. Because our missions program partners with local orphanages in Latin America, we can build relationships with the abandoned children that last beyond the trip. We take care of all the details so those who attend can focus on growing as servants of God and others.

TRAINING

We have created a year-long program called ‘Servant Leadership Team' or ‘SLT', which trains and equips youth with the tools to become a leader in today's culture. We also host training seminars which empower local youth leaders to better accomplish their church's program goals. Our half-day Youth Ministry Training Seminars include the following themes: The Nuts and Bolts of Youth Ministry, Relational Ministry, Surviving Adolescence, Helping Teens Make Decisions about Drugsand Alcohol and Team Ministry.
