On August 25th, 2017 at 10 PM Hurricane Harvey made it's way to shore in South Texas. The mid- and upper-Texas coast is not the same after being rocked first by 175 mph winds in Aransas and Nueces counties, and then submerged beneath nearly 60 inches of rain in Houston and Southeast Texas. Every typical part of life was affected: school, sports, housing, jobs and tourism. It has been reported that 80% of Aransas Counties structures were damaged and more than 28,000 residents found their homes uninhabitable. It is estimated that recovery efforts will continue until late 2020 or beyond.
